Welcome to MichaelMusillami.com.

Michael Musillami is a performer, bandleader/ composer, educator and founder/director of the Playscape Recordings label.

Critics have called him "a superior guitarist" (John McDonough, DownBeat) and "a protean player with a prolific output" (Bill Milkowski, JazzTimes), noting that his "intricate compositions are both thematically memorable and ear-grabbing due to their zealous playfulness" (Jay Collins, Signal to Noise).

He has earned critical notice as the leader of all-star groups ranging from duo to octet, but his flagship ensemble is his trio with bassist Joe Fonda and drummer George Schuller, which has performed in the U.S., Canada and Europe and released three CDs since 2002.

His most recent release is 2007's The Treatment, which documents his trio's collaboration with acclaimed violinist Mark Feldman on both a new studio recording and live concert DVD. One of Musillami's most successful projects to date, it was included in best-of-the-year lists at AllAboutJazz.com and JazzHouse.org as well as in Coda, the Hartford Courant and Jazz Review.
